closed return

A buyer wanted to return an item.  I approved the return  and sent shipping info.  I never received the item.  I asked for tracking info from the buyer and never received it.  The buyer told eBay, but not me that he returned it.  I reported him by saying that I never received the item and that he did not supply the tracking.  I never heard from her again.  Now the retrn has been "closed".  But that is all the information I received.  How do I know that I was not charged for the return and that it was just closed due to lack of response from the buyer.  Thanks
