cancel one item in order

customer bought 2 of same item in order but we only have one in stock.  he still wants the one we have, how can we cancel one of them and process the other one?

I don't think you can cancel part of a quantity on an order.

Best to cancel the entire order and relist just the 1 item, have them buy it again.
