Why are my new listings getting zero views when this time last year I was a BRAND NEW seller and was selling out my whole shop?
I literally had never sold on here before last October. From last October through about January I was listing and selling lots of items. As soon as I listed, within a few hours I would at least have some views and probably favorite on any items I posted.
now they sit for days and get zero views?!
My items are the same! Has something changed with the platform or algorithm that I just don’t know about?
another question, while I have you, if a listing is old and has barely any views or favorites is it better to delete it and try again or make adjustments to the existing listing (like changing name, category, description).
thanks to anyone reading this for your help. I am desperate to make this platform work to sell my vintage collection.

Sales have been down this year for a lot of sellers. Look at our current economy for the most likely reason... Hopefully things will pick up for the holidays.
You can try all of the things you mentioned...ending listings and relisting. Making appropriate changes to titles, categories, and descriptions. You can check to be sure you're filling in item specifics as it's the title and item specifics that are used in search.
Check your pricing also. Are the same/similar items selling for less from other sellers? You could also try using promoted listings on a few items (even the minimum 2%) to see if that gives your items more visibility.
How much wiggle room are you building into your pricing so that you can accept offers? Is that something that can be reduced? Buyers like me prefer listings with firm pricing. I don't even look at best offer listings because I don't like haggling. Just tell me how much it is, and I'll pay it if I agree with the price. I hate the idea of thinking, "Gee, maybe I could have offered less..." I also don't look at auctions. I realize that not everyone is the same on this. Some buyers WANT to make offers and LOVE to bid on auctions. But it's something to think about. See what your competition is doing. In the collectible categories, offers and auctions may be the best way to go. I'm just suggesting to think about it to determine whether a change, if any, makes sense...even for some items. Maybe the answer is that no change should be made...but at least you've thought it through.
Getting your shipping costs down if possible may help. ($6.05 to ship the Halloween picks to my zipcode seems pretty hefty.) If you are printing labels through eBay, you get a discount. Rather than charging your buyers full retail pricing for shipping, you can pass some or all of that discount on to your buyer in the shipping discount settings here:
Hopefully this will give you some ideas of things to look at. You can always try something new and different on one or a few items to see if it makes a difference. As you experiment, you'll probably come up with other ideas on your own.
Good luck!

Hello Inceptions! I wanted to sincerely thank you for your response to my post.
It was really helpful for me even just to get confirmation that its slow all over and not a major problem with something I am doing. and in fact since writing I have sold a few things, so maybe it was also an issue with me being inactive for like 5 months and now that I am adding new items I am getting a bit of visibility again.
I am also experimenting with having some listings with a set price, like you suggested and others with offers turned on so I can compare how they perform.
I will also try a few promotions.
I'm still having trouble getting my shipping costs any lower, I did go to the link you shared and make sure I have the ebay discounted rates turned on, but it seems like it's not that much lower than what I was already offering. But, I will keep experimenting with ways to ship for less.
Thanks again!

As you can see, there is no one answer to improving sales. There are all sorts of things to try, so experiment and some new ideas may come to you as well.
As for the shipping, what caught my attention was the one item for the picks. Shipping is high for everyone, so as long as you're using accurate settings, they are what they are.
Glad to hear your sales started up again! Wishing you good sales through the holidays!
