Wrong items sent to wrong people

Hello, I accidentally sent the wrong items to two people overseas, I must have got the labels wrong.  eBay said they handled the return for me, and that I will not get the items back, how is this possible!?  How am I supposed to make the two people happy about this transaction, if they don’t get there items!?

Sorry, you won't be able to. eBay handles the refunds so that you aren't out any money and they dispose of or liquidate the items.

This should have been caught at the international shipping hub before the items were sent on to the buyers.
