Why would I receive 2 different tracking numbers for the same item?

Does anybody know why I would have received 2 different tracking numbers within a couple of minutes for the same item? I'm not too concerned about it as the seller has a 100% feedback rating, but I was hoping someone could sate my curiosity. I've been using Ebay for quite a few years now and I can honestly say this is a first for me. I searched the help section, but it wasn't very helpful. I messaged the seller, but I've yet to hear back. So I find myself here, in a forum of helpful strangers, hoping that someone has an answer or hypothesis or maybe just feels like making something up... OK, not that last one. Bad idea. Anyway, thank you for taking the time to read my question, whether you know an answer or not, because you made an attempt just by doing so and I want you to know that the effort is appreciated.

Seller made an error on the first label and had to print a second. There is no way to cancel the first, so you get two tracking numbers.

Thank you for such a quick response. I can accept this as a valid reason. I've never sold anything on Ebay, nor do I plan to in the near future, so I am fairly ignorant of the whole process on the seller's side of the transaction. If I hear back from the seller, which I expect I will, and this is the reason, I will accept it as the solution. Thank you again.

The seller needs to VOID the first label if s/he wants credit for the charge on that label. The seller has 5 days to do so.

 

When I need to VOID a label, I send a message to the buyer explaining why I had to Void a label, so the buyer is not alarmed if s/he receives a message from ebay about the voided label.

Thank you for the information. I will pass it along to the seller. I didn't receive an email from anywhere saying the first label had been voided, so maybe he'll find the information useful, as well.
