Why doesn’t eBay give the average selling price for items you’re selling?

I think it would make selling easier if eBay offered up what the average sold price was of items that you were trying to list time by not having to search for similar items why do they only do this for select items?

Hi @folawn

Perhaps because they couldn't find any item they considered to be a good match. Or perhaps there were too few items to evaluate. There are also times they include things that aren't that relevant and that skews the recommendation.

Personally, I don't pay attention to the suggestions. There are rarely accurate or helpful. If I were listing a vintage item, I would take into consideration what others price it at, how quickly the item is sold (which may be an indication of over- or under-valuation), the condition of my competition's items and other information the seller provides in the listing, what the photos show, the quality of the listing description and photos, and the sellers reputation. There is much more than just price to consider.
