Why charge return shipping for crappy items?

I sweat, Ebay has turned in to an expensive version of Temu. I get ripped off for a crappy, misrepresented product and they have the gall to charge me to send back for a refund? I'm done with this app. I know they're evil, but use Amazon, people.

Who pays for the return depends on the return reason chosen.

For an item that is "not as described", the seller is responsible for paying for the return, but if a buyer returns at the buyer's expense, the buyer has no way to force the seller to pay after the fact.
