Where can I find *and read* private messages?

I happened to see a missed message from a member sent over a day ago in my activity tab while using desktop version. I click on reply and it kicks me over to the app.... where that message doesn't exist anywhere. 

I'm new. EBay seems kind of all over the place between the app, the motors app, desktop, etc.  Nothing feels streamlined or user friendly. I am constantly searching through different tabs, different apps, different types of messages, different menus and it's frustrating to the point of it not being worth it. Is it just me? Am I just the new kid in a strange school and eventually I'll learn my way around??

If you use the eBay app, make sure you are signed in to the same eBay account on both the app and your browser.

If you do not want eBay browser links to open in the eBay app automatically, there is a way to disable that. If you are using an iOS device, tap and hold an eBay browser link that opens in the app and you should see three options. Choose "do not open in the app". If you are using an Android device, go to your device Settings: Apps: eBay: Open by Default: Open Supported Links and then choose "Don't allow app to open links".

For best results, you may want to use a desktop browser to view all your messages in your messages inbox. Mobile browsers may have a tendency to switch between mobile and classic mode if a page does not render correctly in one mode or the other.
