I have been selling on eBay for 21 years. I spent a total of 15 hours last week between chats and phone calls trying to get this resolved, "We’re unable to verify your identity at this time." No one could get me past that. eBays solution..... create a new eBay account. So just get rid of 21 years of a 100% positive feedback account.

Hi @wilerd23 Being told to open a new eBay account seems like strange advice, because if you want to sell, you'll have to verify your identity on that account too, so where's the solution in that?
I'm not the strongest responder on this topic, but I will at-mention a very strong responder and perhaps they'll drop by with a more definitive answer.
@comics-scifi-collectibles Can you shed any light?
In the meantime, I believe that it's important for your eBay account information and your verification documents to match in every detail. You can double check that your address, etc on your identification documents are identical to the address, etc shown in your account profile. It would probably be easier to update your account details than the documents. Good luck!

Thanks, on the phone we did address, payment, a secret question verification and the one where they ask you about past residences and jobs etc. I gave up. I guess I am just venting.

@wilerd23 I understand. I really dislike stuff like that. It can be so frustrating. But don't give up just yet. At least wait until we hear from @comics-scifi-collectibles and see what they may have to add.
While we wait, I'm curious as to how you were notified of this need to establish your ID, and how you got the phone number you called. Was there a message in your eBay messages? Did you get the number from the eBay Help pages? Please elaborate a little. Thanks!

@wilerd23 I have not heard of sellers being told to open a new account unless they had registered on a different site to begin with. For example they lived in the UK and had an account ebay.co.uk then they have to open a new US account on eBay.com
I have heard MANY times of sellers being required to open new checking accounts when registration fails.
The registered name and address and SS# on eBay must match the checking account exactly.
You can try and see if eBay for business on FB can help. Although they usually don't help with managed Payment issues maybe they can get you in touch with a supervisor to explain the logic behind this request.
Send a PRIVATE message here:

The agents on FB are more experienced.
Sorry I can't really be of more help as I have never heard of this before.

I just tried to make a regular old listing. So in short I cannot list anything. I used the eBay help. the chat and the phone. It was here. https://www.ebay.com/help/selling/listings/seller-verification?id=4851

Thanks, Ill try the eBay biz line. Reading through threads there are many people who had this issue, but aside from making sure your number is not a VOIP and checking your addresses. there is not much else. They also verified my identity on the phone so..... I spent so much time with support. They evenly say that I have to wait 48 hours after the verification LOL. It had been 2 weeks now. Then I was told to open a new ebay account.
