Usps: awaiting delivery scan

What does “awaiting delivery scan” on a package being shipping via USPS mean?

shows item was out for delivery but then later that day marked now as “awaiting delivery scan”

It means either the carrier missed scanning it when it was delivered, or it didn't get delivered.

I had one that slipped down next to the seat in the usps truck 🙂
