Using only portion of gift card balance

Is it possible to use only a portion of gift card balance at check out ? 

Right now it seems like all or nothing when it comes to paying with gift card balance.

I want to spread it out over purchases.

When you make a purchase with an eBay gift card, any unused eBay gift card balance will be attached to your eBay account, and should appear as a line item at checkout with a box to check to apply the funds to a future purchase.

I thought the answer was clear. You can use a portion of the gift card to make a purchase if that purchase amount is less than the gift card amount, and then the remaining balance is linked to your account for a future purchase.

So the answer to your question is: yes.
