Using PayPal "no supported browser found to open the link"

Unable to use PayPal error message: "No supported browser found to open the link"

Already: 

Cleared cachexhanged setting in Settings: Apps permissions: open supported links: (toggled through all options)

The problem seems to be that when checking out using the eBay app, the app needs to open a browser window so you can sign in to PayPal. But if you have certain browsers selected as your default browser, the sign-in does not work.
