How could onelearn more details of the authentication process that a Non-Autographed “uncirculated” card such as Topps Finest/Topps Pristine, goes through during EBay Authentication process?
I had previously thought cards were inspected without being removed from the case/top loader/one touch they are mailed in. Having had one returned to me unauthenticated, I now know that’s not the case. What about the aforementioned and other “uncirculated” cards? They are encased in thick plastic holder with a security/tampering label/sticker that would be ruined if the case is disturbed. What would prevent the scenario of an “uncirculated” card upon being authenticated, security sticker compromised as a result of the process, loses its appeal to the buyer prompting a return. For all of their efforts a seller could potentially lose a customer, sale, AND receive back an item that has lost value. What if that same card DID happen to sell again after re-listed? Would it pass authentication again after being cracked? Also on some uncirculated slabs, those stickers after 20 or so years start to crack, adhesive on the sticker degrades and it starts popping up, especially when exposed to heat and being handled. Could those result in an inauthentic finding? Could a scratch on the case also cause an inauthentic finding? I guess I’m looking for a bit of clarification. Really the whole authentication process could use more explanation, in detail. Thanks to anyone in the know willing to share the knowledge

Thanks, but that article answered none of my questions and explained nothing of eBay’s authentication process.

That is all I could find on the Authenticity Guarantee. I doubt anyone working in Customer Service has any more information.
