USPS Express Next Day Delivery Issue

I sold an item and the buyer requested I switch the shipping to USPS Express Next Day Delivery because he doesn't trust the Postal Service.  I gladly accepted his request, updated the shipping method though eBay and sent him an updated invoice.  He paid, and right fully so expected the item there the next day.

 

The issue I have is that the item didn't arrive the next day.  It took 3 days to arrive.  He is now wanting a refund on the extra money he paid for Express delivery.   I want to honor his request, but don't know how to go about it.

 

Please advise what you would do to resolve this issue.

USPS Express Next Day Delivery Issue

To issue a partial refund, just go to your list of sold orders and select 'send refund' from the pull down menu next to the order.

 

There's no reason to check now, but for next time - be sure to check usps.com to see if express is overnight from you to your buyer.  Express is often 2 days.

 

I assume you did not take the package to your PO to have them give you the delivery commitment, but if you did, take your receipt to your PO and get a refund. Express is guaranteed.  If you just dropped it in the collection bin/box, they will not give you the refund.  At least my PO will not.
