I have dropped off a package at USPS instead of UPS by accident. I am at the USPS and they said it has been moved to the next location. When I reached out to UPS, they said they pick up packages every day from USPS. The buyer wants me to cancel the sale. It’s been two weeks since I dropped off the package at the wrong location. If I cancel the sale what happens when the package is found? I assume it will be delivered to the buyer and, it seems like I should then be paid for the sale? But how would that be enforced? Or would eBay tell the buyer they have to return the product to me? Should I contact UPS to void the label? Will they return it to me then? Thanks for the input.

@trainsvette If it is going to arrive late and is an expensive item I would do a package intercept and have it returned to you.

There is a fee for this.
If your buyer has filed a not received refund request because it's past the last estimated delivery date then you'll have to refund the buyer. They could end up with the item AND a refund. Once a refund is issued eBay can not force the buyer to pay you again or return the item, you'll be at the mercy of your buyer.

Thanks. But I guess I have to actually call UPS. There's no history of my shipment online. I assume its because the shipping is bought thru eBay. I tried voiding the shipping via eBay and it said I was too late to do that.
No only do they get the item and a refund, they get the item and I paid for the shipping, I assume. Have a good night.

@trainsvette. You don't want to void the label anyway. All that would have done is get you a refund on the shipping.
Sadly if it wasn't scanned in by Ups it could have even been stolen along the way. If it has not been scanned in you won't be able to file a lost package insurance claim either. 😞

When I emailed UPS, they did say something about trying to work with USPS to solve the issue. I went back in and its a regional office, if its in their care at all anymore. UPS also said I could file a report with the police as well, but I don't know if that would get me anywhere, when it comes to getting insurance coverage of any kind. It would be great if eBay put in bold letters "UPS" or "USPS" or "FEDEX" on each label to get attention when you print the labels. In the meantime, I'll be scanning the UPS tracking number to see if it goes in to motion. From what I can tell, I can't file a change of address/intercept, since the package doesn't show its even picked up yet?

@trainsvette eBay labels do say right at the top in fairly large writing which carrier the label is for.
I made the same mistake when I was new to selling and was lucky that it was picked up and scanned into the system just a few days later by UPS and then delivered to the buyer just a couple of days late.
As I said in my previous reply>>>
"Sadly if it wasn't scanned in by Ups it could have even been stolen along the way. If it has not been scanned in you won't be able to file a lost package insurance claim either. "
AND you can't do an address intercept if UPS has no record of the package.

So now the package is being shipped via UPS and I can't use UPS to redirect because they tell me it comes from an eBay account. How do I get the eBay account to redirect the missing package to me, the Seller? And if I can't, which I think you already indicated, why not?? Even you sent me a link on how to re-direct a package. Thanks.
