Tracking numbers.

I sold a sticker and mailed it 1st class mail so there is no tracking number.  I reported it as shipped.  The next day my tracking info  drops almost a point.  How can I fix this.  If Ebay gives you a 1st class mail as a choice how come they lower your  tracking info.

You do not have to have 100% tracking - to be top rated, you must have at least 95% tracking uploaded and validated. To maintain your top rated status, make sure that your items without tracking are less than 5% of your items sold.

Some sellers open a second ID to sell the items sent without tracking, so that their main account can be top rated.

Stickers and decals are eligible for the standard envelope, if they are in an eligible category. This is the same cost as first class but includes tracking. Read more here -

Re: Tracking numbers.

First of all thanks for replying.   I guess what ticks me off the most is you don't put on 1 tracking number and you lose almost a point on your percentage.  But it takes about 25 sales with perfect tracking to get back to where you were.

eBay is pretty good at math, and it should work the same both going up and going down. What will change is the 12 month period - it rolls forward each month. If you sold more 12 months ago than this month, the % will go up unless you sell enough to keep the 12 month total about the same.

Re: Tracking numbers.

Hello again......I don't mean to beat a dead horse but My tracking percentage went from 96.46% to 96.52%  after selling 18 items with no tracking problems. We sell around 120 items every 3 months.  Now I went from 97.30 to 96.46 after I had no tracking for 1 item.

The calculation uses the exact number you have sold for the 12 months - the 12 month period changes each evaluation. I should not have said ‘about’ since you are looking at fractions of percentages 🙂

Open the monthly breakdown in your dashboard and you can see the exact number that was used last evaluation, and the upcoming 8/20 evaluation, which will be Aug 2023 - July 2024.
