System error on purchase

 I tried to buy this item this morning. eBay’s system said “ you have to bid more than buy now price” which was $28.  I bid $50. The item sold for $16.80. I called eBay immediately and the lady said okay I will escalate your issue. Four hours later and no one has called me back. 

I feel this will ruin eBay if they make it unfair for the buyer….and the seller lost money.  Anyone else have this problem)

Whatever error message you got your bid was NOT accepted and there was no BIN on that listing this morning since a bid yesterday morning would have killed the BIN (even though the item is in a "sticky BIN" category the resulting "current bid" for the Starting Price of $16.80 is more than 50% of a $28 BIN).  There is nothing to be done if your bid was rejected for whatever reason.

How, exactly, did you "call eBay"?   There are many scammers out there who set up fake websites with "eBay's number" and current Help and Contact flowthrough on the website only offer chat or a call back, not the option for you to call.
