Can anyone explain why a seller would use International shipping when both the seller and the buyer live in the United States?
I have been a member here since 1998 and never had this issue before.
This week I have had this happen twice.
I live in Florida.
The first purchased was from Michigan on 3-9-2024 and since shows incorrect shipping numbers.
Having this exact same issue with another purchase from Florida, where I live.
Tracking incorrect.
First you receive tracking with letters, which goes to an all number tracking that has 20 numbers and according to USPS, there should only be 18.
Why does a seller do this?
Most likely, I will have to get refunds from both and start over.
This should not even be an option for in country shipping.
Any thoughts or issues any of you have had with this?

Are these trading cards, or other flat light weight items under $20? If the tracking # starts with ESUS, this is a special usps first class mail service offered by eBay, only used within the US.
The tracking comes from the usps high speed sorting equipment - the scans are supplied to a 3rd party service company then to eBay.

Yes they are.
That is what I told the Ebay customer service rep, she said it was international shipping.
My problem it I purchased the item on 3-9-2024 and it still shows it is a wrong tracking number.
When you click on the ESUS number, it takes you to another number, all numbers, 20 numbers long.
Tracking should be 18 numbers.
Either way, it shows an incorrect tracking number,12 day after the purchase, 10 days after it supposedly shipped.
Thank you for your response.

I don’t think CS is very well versed in shipping. The ESUS numbers are very definitely US shipping. (They are probably thinking of regular international shipping where tracking #s start with a letter and end in a 2 letter country code.)
Since your purchase is probably well overdue, be sure to open a not received claim to get a refund.
Here’s a thread with some good info from one of our mentors @shipscript -

EasyShip is a shipping facilitator that provides the ESUS (wrapper) numbers to eBay, while I think eBay purchases postage through Pitney Bowes (those would be those much longer numbers that are not USPS numbers).
Track your letter here:
https://parcelsapp.com/en/tracking
ESUS numbers were first obtained when eBay was managing an International shipping option for seller packages and using Pitney Bowes and DHL shipping logistics. eBay then decided to use the same proprietary system for envelopes, but did not change the name on the ESUS account. When you track your ESUS number, you will see that it is labeled as "eBay International Delivery". That might introduce some confusion about international shipping, when origin and destination are both USA.
Shipping - 2024 - ESUS tracking example
USPS does not offer tracking for first class letters, and there is no USPS tracking code anywhere in sight, so the post office can not help. The clerks in the post office can't read the ESUS numbers or the Pitney Bowes numbers, but those proprietary QR codes on the letter can be scanned at major letter-sorting hubs and can be made available to those companies who paid for the service.
Anyway, there is not much that eBay Customer Service can do to help. These letters can take 3 to 10 days to get through the system. As @wooden_flower suggested, if your letters are more than a week overdue, you can open a "not received" request from your purchase history to receive a refund.

Thank you for the info.
Like I stated earlier, when you click on the ESUS tracking, it takes you another tracking number.
When you click to track it, it takes you to USPS,not Pitney Bowes.
I do not understand why it does not provide the correct site and more importantly, no updates since my package was shipped 10 days ago.
People selling items should use the appropriate shipping or give the buyer a choice since any dealings I have ever had with Pitney Bowes has been horrible.
Especially if you are charged shipping costs that would work with USPS and a legitimate tracking number.

What is your ESUS tracking number?

Where you charged $5 shipping or more for a package service?

Not trading cards, a small Disney pin that is very light weight and under $20 which should not have a bearing on shipping.
Ebay customer service told me it was International shipping. I checked sites and found it was Pitney Bowes, which is a horrible shipping service.
Bottom line, the seller said it was shipped by USPS, even though it never showed up on tracking.
It was purchased on 3-9-2024,seller stated he shipped it on 3-12-2024.
The package never showed up.
The seller never followed instruction or responded to messages from Ebay customer service or myself.
I received a refund yesterday 3-25-2024 and this seller received negative feedback for his lack of addressing this or doing his part.
