Shipping Mishap!

Hello.

I have been eBaying for years and I knew one day it would happen one day!  I mixed up two packages and shipped them to the wrong buyers.  They were very small items and under $10.  Is there any easy way to fix this?  I thought sending prepaid shipping labels to each of them would work, but wasn't sure if that would violate any policies.  Can anyone help?  Thank you

@tlwamp

Do not ask your buyers to ship to each other.  That generally does not work out well, with 1 buyer having 2 items and the other none.  Plus your buyer might not want the other to have their personal information.

You should ask each to open a not as described return so they can send back what they received for a refund. You can then relist the item, perhaps with a discount, for your buyers to purchase again.

Shipping Mishap!

Hi @tlwamp

I am sure that has happened to most Sellers.  When it happened to me I vowed NEVER to do that again, which worked until I did it a second time.

Each time I messaged both Buyers and asked them to ship them back to me and I would Refund their shipping cost off their original purchase.  I let them know if the other Buyer did the same I would ship their original purchase to them at my cost.  Yes, it was expensive but in the end that worked.  One Buyer offered to ship directly to the other Buyer but I wanted to inspect the items before I shipped them again.

For me that worked well for my customers but there is no guarantee two Buyers will agree to that so as @wooden_flower eluded to, one Buyer might wind up with 2 items and the other with none.

You have the option to message and refund everything to the Buyers if they prefer that but no matter what you do there will be a loss of some kind.

Yeah, I’m sure. It’s just one of those things you hope never will happen.

I expect a loss, but was hoping to find as less of a loss as possible. I’m only selling unwanted items in my home. Don’t have a store or anything.

Thank you for your response. All valid points.
