Hello and to whom this may be of interest,

I sold an item and when time came to draw up a shipping label, the choices offered - which was fewer than usual - were not applicable or just too expensive. I therefore chose to go straight to FedEx and draw up and pay for a label outside of eBay's portal for shipping labels.

My questions are; How do I get eBay to either track the package and/or acknowledge that I have sent and shipped the package? Also, once received by the recipient, how do I get the typical written acknowledgement from eBay that the package has been in fact delivered to the recipient essentially triggering the closure of the transaction?

You need to upload the FedEx tracking to the order in Seller Hub.

There is a dropdown next to the item, "add tracking" may be an option there, or click the box next to it and the "Shipping" dropdown at the top of the column will activate and you can add tracking that way.

I'm not sure what you mean by "typical written acknowledgement from eBay"?

Oh, I meant "typically" when shipped via the eBay portal the package is tracked up until it is delivered, and I typically receive a notice such as a little green icon that says (acknowledges) that it's been "Delivered" whereas when going outside of eBay to ship that so called tracking of the package whereabouts does not get... noticed, acknowledged, confirmed on my Selling and/or Overview page.

I wasn't aware that label tracking purchased elsewhere is not acknowledged - I don't see why they wouldn't be as long as you upload the tracking to the order.

It shouldn't matter really, many sellers don't even use eBay labels at all - they use outside label platforms only.

Maybe you are right and they do track once the tracking is entered as you've mentioned. This is my first time going outside so perhaps I jumped the gun on this. I'll see once delivered if they do track numbers entered from outside eBay's shipping label portal.
