As a seller, I have same day/next business day shipping. However, I have a buyer asking to delay shipping for a week. Is my ebay status going to be affected because of this request (meaning I am late shipping the item...) ?

Yes, you will receive a defect for late shipping. I would suggest that the buyer file a vacation hold, which can be done online at USPS.COM , and you can then ship on time, and buyer can retrieve the package when s/he returns.

Hi @storette You will get a late shipping defect, it will roll off your account in either 90 days or 1 year depending on your sales volume. One won't do you in but it really isn't necessary ... I have had delayed shipment requests too. I will message a Buyer immediately explaining my Handling time, eBay's expectations and the risk of the late shipping defect ... I then suggest they message me back to ask for a cancellation and they can buy it upon their return.
On a side note, eBay rejected my suggestion for a "Pause" button for Sellers on transaction like this where a Buyer asks for something special AFTER they purchase ... if eBay weren't so fixated on some of the ridiculously subjective Seller metrics we could have something like that for special situations. They could even test the idea by limiting Sellers to 5 per year like they do with Feedback revision forms. What the Pause button would do is simply NOT include that transaction in any of their Seller metrics ...
Here's the deal, it is YOUR item that YOU purchased with YOUR money to sell on YOUR account to YOUR customers but YOU cannot construct YOUR OWN DEAL! Something seriously wrong with that scenario.
