Selling an item that I can't ship

Hello. I'm selling a drum set that I'm unable to package up and ship so I'm doing local pickup only.

I'm concerned on the payment process in this situation.

I'd like for the buyer to pay through my paypal account I have on ebay. Is that a full proof way of getting paid and then arranging for the buyer to pickup it up?

Is there a better way? And is that even possible to do with a local pickup only?

Would this be the same as someone buying something from me and I ship it out? The payment is done as soon as they buy it?

@guywalkguy     The buyer pays using eBay checkout like they would for any other sale unless your buyer is located in a state that doesn't have sales tax.   Chances are with a local pick up sale that the buyer will be in the same state, sales tax is charged by the buyers state so you can't accept cash or other payment methods at pick up.

How you select Local pick up only depends on which listing tool you are using.

1. Quick Listing Tool:
If the listing tool you are using has a Gear symbol in the upper right corner then you are using the Quick Listing Tool.

To select Local Pick Up only on the Quick Listing Tool you do NOT check the ship your item box and then scroll down and select more options then check Local Pick Up in the shipping section.

2. If you are using the New Listing Tool. It will have the option to add a video in the photo section.

Scroll down to the Shipping section and select Local Pick Up only from the first drop down box.

If you have a shipping option showing then you need to click on the 3 dots in the box and delete it.

The second Local Pick Option at the bottom of the listing tool is only to be used if you want to offer shipping AND local Pick Up.

When the buyer picks up the item be sure to ask for the QR code to scan or enter the 6 digit code into the app:

Go to the sold listing on the eBay cellphone app and select Arrange pick up. Then you scan the QR code or enter the 6 digit code that the buyer receives when they pay for the item at checkout.

The QR code is your proof of delivery and helps get your funds released sooner.
