Greetings,
I may have an opportunity to sell an absolutely beautiful RV for someone, and all I’ve ever sold on eBay are books!
Is there some sort of help/assistance/advice for big-ticket items?
Or would I hire someone to help me help them sell it for them? My commission fees would be halved I suppose, but I’m not familiar with RVs; licensing, designation, type of vehicle, paper-work, state laws, etc…
Ty!

eBay Motors listings are completely different from regular eBay listings.
There is no final value fee (percentage of the price) paid. There is an upfront package for the listing, priced depending on which listing package you choose. The payment is made off eBay by cash or cashier’s check (in that case you should cash the check and have cash in hand before you and the buyer part ways).
Either you or the buyer can part ways before payment without penalty. Look at an eBay Motors listing like taking out a classified ad in your newspaper. The payment you made for the listing package is due and non refundable if the item doesn’t sell. Don’t use a reserve price; it is an extra possibly expensive fee that is pointless on a Motors listing.
Come back and ask more questions if you’re uncomfortable with any point in the process. We would much rather answer a lot of questions than see you get scammed at any point.

Thanku so much for that info!
Payment outside of eBay? I thought that was such a no-no, I guess it only applies to big ticket items because the process does sound very much like placing a classified ad.
Question; I’ve seen auctions where they require some sort of partial payment up front. I can’t remember if it was a down-payment, but it was in Motors for several thousand dollars, and it was $500 required payment, I don’t recall if it was non-refundable or not, but think it was.
I don’t see that recently tho. Would that be a Buy-It-Now requirement for a down payment?
Thanks!

There’s no requirement to insist on a deposit; I think most buyers will steer clear of listings requiring a deposit, at least knowledgeable buyers anyway, because they know if the deal falls through they can’t get their money back.
Correct, payment outside of eBay is a no-no everywhere on eBay EXCEPT eBay Motors. It’s really impossible for them to be involved, since you’re dealing with a titled item that will require registration, and tax requirements are going to be different everywhere.
