The item I received was not in working condition, so I started a return on Ebay.
As the seller accepts returns, I guess it just automatically provided me a USPS return shipping label and instructions on how to return the package, plus a deadline.
The seller now wants me to return it via a UPS label that they will purchase (they have not yet done so).
I was under the impression that I was required to send it back via the label I was given, otherwise it would void my buyer protections or something as I'd have no proof I sent it back.
I asked the seller why they wanted me to return it not using the provided shipping label and first they indicated that the item might not reach them if I didn't use a different label, then they basically said because the label I had was, "Too expensive, and this would be cheaper."
Which... To me doesn't make much sense as the label I have is already purchased, printed, ready to ship. So it doesn't seem like there's any way to save money on something that's already been purchased?
I'm approaching the deadline to get this item back (need to get it returned by the 22nd, so I need to ship it like tomorrow), and I'm not super sure what to do. Everything I've seen on Google has told me, "use the label Ebay gives you," but I don't want to mess the return up or something.

@squishlypickles. Ship it with the label from the case that you already printed as the tracking is already in the case and can't be changed.
If the seller wanted an option to send their own shipping label then they need to set up their return shipping prefrences differently.
The seller would be refunded by eBay if the return label you printed is not used, but you need to use it.

That very much makes sense.
