Please explain why Ebay holds over your head issues from a year ago. We are constantly updating our inventory and we also had a huge fire that damaged our warehouse. It takes time to count and review
what products were & were not damaged then update listings inventory and to top it off
we had a hard time in 2022 due to supply chain issues through October 2022 which caused a high rate of
"out of stock" cancellations. But then we had ZERO "out of stock" issues in November 2022, and only 3 items in Dec 2022, ZERO in January 2023 & ZERO in February 2023 then only 2 in March 2023 and ZERO in April 2023 thus far.
Do any other sellers agree the defect rate should not be calculated on a yearly basis - it should only be on a 6 month eval basis or even better the calendar year i.e. 1/1/22 - 12/31/22 then begins fresh on 1/1/23...
It is not fair that we are still being punished from last year 2022.

That is a huge number of defects for your sales volume. What is not fair is for listings to be left on the site when there is no stock to ship when purchased. That causes inconvenience and disappointment for buyers who spend a lot of time vetting sellers, comparative shopping and finally deciding on you, only to perhaps miss an opportunity to by from a seller who would have shipped.
I'm so sorry about the fire. That must have been devastating. However what you should have done immediately is put your listings on Time Away until you were able to take inventory.
Additionally, supply chain issues should not cause out of stocks. Why are you listing quantities that you don't have available?
Depending on your volume, your defect rate evaluation period is either a year or three months. If you were measured on a shorter period of time, you wouldn't even be selling now. Now is the time to get your inventory under control and eliminate situations that are earning you defects.
