Seller Altered Product After Bid Placed???

Is the seller permitted to alter the items you have bid on AFTER you bid?

Seller Altered Product After Bid Placed???

The seller discovered some difference between the description and reality after there was a bid and could not amend the description, only add a "P.S." at the bottom.  You had a valid reason to retract your bid but it looks like you did not go through with it since it is still showing as an active bid on the bid history (and the time to do so has expired).  You should request the seller to cancel your bid if the change is significant to you.  If s/he doesn't and you win use the link to start a transaction cancellation within 1 hour of the end of the auction:   https://www.ebay.com/help/buying/buyers-can-cancel-order/buyers-can-cancel-order?id=4004#section1

In such a case I always advise sellers to cancel all bids and end the auction without a winner before the 12 hour deadline even though that results in a fee.

THANK YOU!

Are they allowed to alter things that we’ve already bid on though?

As stated, the seller cannot change the original listing.  It is blocked by eBay.  They can only add a PS.  Yes, this is allowed.  It is up to you to decide if you want to retract your bid or let it stand.

If you mean can they alter the actual product, eBay is not going to send out an investigator to see if any discrepancy between the original description and the amendment was a deliberate alteration of the actual product by the seller, or that s/he didn't notice that the original description was wrong or incomplete until after it had a bid, or the cat or child or burglar did it.  Sellers are expected to accurately describe the item in the first place, and maintain their inventory safely during the pendency of the listing, but nobody is perfect.
