Scam for $300 visa

Is there anyway to stop the people from making an offer and then sending me a message to contact them through text at a phone number they have left and then they ask u to include a $300  visa gift card and they say they will pay you for and meanwhile your item is sitting in hold waiting for payment. I'm a new seller here and have only listed 8 items and it's happened 3 times on different items. Just looking for any suggestions that could stop this and or if I can't then how should I respond to this as not to hurt me from being in good standing? TIA for any suggestions.

Scam for $300 visa

Try listing without best offer until you build up some feedback.  Then the scammers will leave you alone.

The buyer gets 4 days to pay.  On day 5, select cancel transaction, then select buyer has not paid.  This puts an unpaid cancellation on the buyer's account.  You can block buyers with 2 or more unpaid cancellations.
