I tried to contact Ebay but of course there is no easy way to do that. On a recent transaction, I was charged sales tax not only on the sales price of the item but also on shipping and handling which was on the high side.
I do not know how this is legal. I questioned the seller and they said Ebay controls the sales tax amount?
I haven't used Ebay for some time and won't any longer. I do not like their practices.

Whether and how much sales tax is charged is a matter of the law in the state the item is being shipped to; eBay has no control over that. Some states consider the shipping to be part of the transaction and thus taxable, and eBay is required to collect the tax and remit to the state.

You can contact eBay through the Help & Contact link, but the customer service reps will not be able to do anything about your state requiring sales tax to be paid.

You will be charged sale tax anywhere you shop on the internet.
The rules have changed the government what's their piece of the action.
