Returning an order just because item doesn't fit

Buyer wants to return pair of expensive shoes because it doesn't fit her, she claims. Description and photo clearly  shows size. It was free shipping. And still want me to pay for return shipping. I am losing money to pay for both shipping. Is that right?

@chie76

Returns will have a cost to the seller, of course.
This buyer seems reasonable, they are trying to work with you for a refund.

Because you don’t want eBay involved and because, if this person is going to return the shoes, you want them back in the condition you sent them, you should work with your buyer.
These are $600 shoes. I would do everything in my power to get those back.

Refunds and returns are not interchangeable words.
Buyers can, and do, get a refund without returning the item.

When you get the shoes back, sell them locally for cash.
Having been here 20 years, $150 is the most expensive item I will list.
Never list what you can’t afford to take a full loss on.
