Return

If the item is damaged, you will either accept a return, or refund without return - you are responsible for the package until delivery. If damaged in shipping, then is $100 of insurance on most shipments.  You refund the buyer, the insurance reimburses you.

Do you mean the product box or the shipping box?  The product box is part of the product, and important to collectors. If the product box is damaged, ask your buyer to open a not as described return. Also ask for photos of the product box and the shipping box.

If it is the shipping box, ask the buyer to open it.  To file an insurance claim, you needs photos of the box and the item.  Assure them you will accept the return if the item is damaged. If damaged, again ask them to open a not as described return.

After they open the return, you accept it and have eBay issue a return label if you want the item returned.  If you do not want the item returned, select refund now.

You need the buyer to hold the item until you file your claim and know if they need to take it for inspection.  You need their cooperation, so ask nicely 🙂  Ask them to print the return label, and let you know when they have it.  Then you refund, and ask them to send it back after you hear about your claim.
