Short story: listed a bike for appx $1,500 using Auction. Toward the end of the auction, a buyer purchased it, but didn't pay. I checked on shipping cost. I then sent him several messages advising what the cost to ship would be as well. I didn't hear from him. A couple of days went by, and I didn't hear from him, so I assumed he was no longer interested. Rather than cancelling that sale (new member -- I didn't know that I had to do that), I relisted it as a sell it now. It sold immediately. That buyer paid, I shipped, and it's been received. Then, the buyer from the auction randomly paid me for the bike, which was already sold. As a new member with no selling history, my funds from the actual sale to the sell it now buyer are on hold until January 2022. The auction buyer has of course requested a refund -- of course. But here's the issue: neither buyer's funds have hit my ebay account. It seems odd that I would have to reimburse the auction buyer out of my own personal checking account when I've not received any money (I was told by eBay the auction buyer's funds are on hold). I'm confused as to what needs to happen here. I was on live chat with Ebay on Monday for appx 2 hours, but didn't really get very far. Does anyone know proper procedure here? I can't refund the auction buyer from my own personal funds -- I don't have those kinds of funds laying around. I haven't yet been paid from the sell it now buyer -- those funds are on hold until Jan 4. Any suggestions? Thank you.
