Received a Counterfeit Item

Ordered Milwaukee batteries back in December of 2023. Recently they stopped holding a charge and won't charge at all anymore. Called an authorized Milwaukee Service Center to see about having them repaired and upon giving them the serial numbers it was determined that these were counterfeit.  The serial number should start with a G and these start with an H.

Unfortunately, it is much too late to ask eBay, or even your credit card issuer for assistance. I’m sorry there is nothing that can be done now.

That's kind of what I thought.  It would still be nice if I could prevent the seller from doing it to someone else.
