eBay said it was a GLITCH when PayPal rec'd $ for my item & ebay still showed active...told to r...

I have an Active eBay store.... Many Lifetimes.

This morning I received a notification from PayPal that I received money; one of my eBay items sold. As usual, I waited to get the notice from eBay which item exactly sold and all the details.. it never came. After a couple hours and the item eBay still showed the item as "Active" NOT "Sold". 

I phoned eBay. The eBay Tech told me there had been a GLITCH between PayPal and eBay …. that they did not communicate for some reason on this Sale. They told me the only way to fix it was to REFUND the BUYER from PayPal, then go to eBay and END that item and then RELIST it. THEN email the Buyer informing of the Refund and make sure she uses the new listing to re-purchase. I did everything they told me to do. I have not heard from the Buyer or eBay.... It is as if the purchase of my item never happened.... there  is no record in my eBay that  it ever happened.  Am I just out a Sale because eBay had a communication glitch with PayPal?  WHAT IS WRONG WITH THIS  PICTURE???? 

Is this really the way this should have ended? Does eBay take any responsibility in the process of the completion of sales whatsoever??

@mravius   I know that many other sellers had issues like this today.   Some sellers just printed the shipping label from paypal adjusted their inventory.   

For other sellers the item was in sold awaiting payment and they marked the item sold and then entered the tracking number from paypal.
