I had 2 people bidding on item. The winning bidder contacted me and asked me to see if 2nd place bidder wanted the item, and if they did, let them have it. The 2nd bidder wants the item.
My question.
When I go to cancel the auction, it gives me the option to relist and says yes or no. Which option do I choose so I can send 2nd chance offer. I don’t want it live for everyone to see, so I would assume I would say no, but not sure what that does to the bidding process. Does it go away , and not show what the 2nd bidder’s bid for the 2nd Chance Offer was?
This is definitely a first for me, so want to do it correctly.
Thanks!

DO NOT cancel the auction. Cancel the Buyer BID that no longer wants to purchase the item.

Keep in mind that since your auction is still active NO ONE has purchased it yet. Not until the auction closes. You could end up with even more bidders before the auction ends. You should NOT have contacted your 2nd place bidder as they may not ultimately win the auction.
But if you close the auction, since there are bids on the auction, Ebay would charge you the FVFs as if you sold it as a penalty and you would NOT have a transaction with anyone.

Thanks for your reply. I may have not worded my question very well. Sorry about that. My auction had ended and the winning bidder emailed me saying they felt bad that they outbid the other bidder and asked me to contact the 2nd bidder to see if they wanted the item. The 2nd bidder did want the item, so I was trying to figure out how to make this work since the auction had ended.
I did get it figured out, and both parties were happy. I have never experienced anything like this before, and in retrospect, I don’t think I will do this if I ever get asked again. Only reason I did was because the 2nd bidder contacted me immediately after the auction ended, upset about how both the winning bidder and they had the same final bid, but they didn’t win the auction, so I knew they wanted the item.
Again, thanks for replying.
