I attempted to Make an Offer on an item that the Seller had switched-on to be an AutoPay item which used the buyer's credit card on file to pay for the purchase.
The method of payment I wanted to use was my Spendable Funds Account, not my card on file...... although the AutoPay function would automatically use my credit card on file on purchase, again which I didn't want to do.
I talked to an Ebay Rep to ask why I couldn't use my Spendable Funds account, and he told me that the Seller selected that a Credit Card was the acceptible method of payment, and was switched on on his end.
I then shared with the Seller that I would make the purchase through my Offer and would need to use my Spendable Funds and not the credit card , which was pre-selected by him for ther AutoPay, and it forced an authorization by him to charge my card.
The seller shared that it ia something that I could specify on my end, after the sale was accepted....... but this is absolutely not the case, as I have had multiple experioences where my card was charged and Ebay would not allow me to toggle to another form of payment after an Offer was accepted.
Bottom line is that both Ebay and the Seller are mistaken, yes it is a seller decision to select Credit Cards as the only method of payment when a purchase is after an Offer from the buyer is accepted.
On the other hand , sellers don't necessarily know that they are excluding Buyers who want to pay for an item purchased in ther Make-an-Offer tool .......... and that the seller can override the spedified payment method on their end.
Does this make sense, has anyone else come across this situation? Thanks

Hi @golfadelic
Here is a link to the Help pages on Spendable funds ... there is a list of exceptions so can you advise if the transaction you are referring to falls under one of them?
Yes, Autopay can be turned on by Sellers but my understanding is that all they do is turn it on, the Buyer has to designate their payment method before sending or accepting an offer.
