Postage on my item was under $5 but I paid almost $5.50 when looking at my selling breakdown.   Why?

Did you use the same class of postage?  I assume it is the book, which was listed as media mail.  $5.50 sounds like ground advantage. You need to watch the service selected and make sure you''re using the same as you offered in the listing.
