Post office closed

Hello, I have an issue where my items are due to ship today. Unfortunately, most if not all post office locations in Louisiana are closed due to a winter storm.( this only happens every 10 years or so in the deep south)

Will ebay work with me regarding late shipments? We are advised by state government to not get on the road.

@thesix  There has not been an announcement yet for this storm.   I would reach out to my buyers and let them know about the delay, ask if they want to wait or not.  If they say they don't want to wait then cancel as buyer requested.

I suggested subscribing to the Announcements page>

I always recommend turning Time Away on as soon as you know bad weather is forecast.  You can always turn it off if the storm passes you by.   It would be a good idea to turn on NOW or at least extend your handling time by a few days.

You can leave listings active and Time Away will extend your handling time up to 15 days.

Whether you choose to allow sales or pause them, delivery dates won't be updated for:

  • Second Chance Offers
  • Auto-accepted offers
  • Pending counter-offers
  • Seller initiated offers accepted during Time Away
  • Items with local pickup or in-store pickup as the shipping option
  • Digital items
  • Athletic shoes eligible for Authenticity Guarantee

You may want to change the shipping format or the handling times on these items while on time away.

Usually eBay is good about working with sellers if needed, though one late shipment shouldn't affect your seller rating anyways.  I would recommend staying safe and shipping when you can, and if your seller level is going to be affected, then you can reach out to eBay customer service to see if they can remove the metrics ding.  That probably won't be necessary, I would expect.
