Why am I being asked to enter a payment method when I already had a recently updated payment method attached to my account and I have been using it without any issues for weeks?

eBay now allows sellers to require a payment method in advance to place a bid or make an offer on the seller's item.

If you do not have a payment method specifically enabled "for offers and auctions" on your Payments page you will be prompted to add one, even if it is one you already use.

This is necessary to ensure that you authorize eBay to place a reversible payment hold for the bid or offer amount, and to automatically charge you if you win or the offer is accepted.

Thank you for your quick response. I understand all of that. The thing is, that I have purchased and won bids with the payment method I recently updated. I am just a bit concerned as to what happened to my saved payment method all of the sudden?

Is this something I need to be concerned about or am I just being paranoid for no reason? Lol

If you are being prompted to enter the same payment method again, or a new payment method entirely, that might be an indication that there was a problem with that particular payment attempt. It could have been a temporary issue or something more serious; it is hard to tell.
