Seller wants me to pay with personal check cashiers check or money order and cash. Would like to pay through eBay so I can protect my account and money. I thought I would pay with PayPal but it’s not on his list of how to pay for what he’s selling. Would like to know what to do. Thanks

It sounds to me like you found the item(s) on another website and the so-called seller is trying to scam you with the lie about "the sale will go through eBay for your and my protection".

That's a SCAM. The scammer does not have the item.

There are a few categories where the seller can set terms that do not comply with the terms of the main eBay site, and those are categories where legal title transfer is involved. Those would be Vehicles, Real Estate, and some Industrial categories.  All other categories are required to accept digital payment methods through eBay's checkout.

Additionally, eBay has another sales method called "classified ads", which is just a contact system to connect sellers with buyers, and on that venue, there are no eBay protections because the sale is completed outside of the eBay platform.

What category item are you purchasing?
