Odd Request from Buyer

Received your four antique 19 century candlesticks. Unfortunately only 3 were antique. The one next to the tallest candlestick was not antique. It was a reproduction. Could you send me a replacement for that one? I will send the reproduction back to you. Thank you! This is the message I got from the Buyer. What should I do? I don't have one to replace. Also I sold this on 1/31; it is almost 30 days when she received it.

Odd Request from Buyer

The buyer has 30 days to request return, so that is not an issue.

Your listing says from an estate sale, so I assume you have no documentation of provenance. I would either ask the buyer to return all 4 for a full refund, or offer a partial refund for the one in question but let the buyer keep it. You can not ask the buyer to return just 1 of 4 for a refund and keep the others since you sold them as a set.

I would explain to the buyer that you can not offer a replacement for the suspect item, so you are offering …. whichever you would like to offer the buyer.  If you want them all returned, ask the buyer to open a not as described return request so you can issue a return label. A partial refund can be issued from your list of sold orders.
