I sold an item. I listed shipping for $4. I shipped it via the U.S. Post Office that same day. I told the seller I sent it.
But I still see my time listed in red as "Late to Ship" even though I shipped it. I clicked on a Print Label button. Then I got a message saying I could print the label and it cost me almost $13. I already shipped the item so I can't figure out how to change the status to "shipped". Can anyone help?

Hi @xims3157
If you print your labels through eBay tracking is automatically uploaded to the sold file. When you take the package to the Post Office and stand in line so the clerk can scan it into their system (within your Handling time) then you avoid a late shipping defect. You also get a discount on all services except USPS Media Mail when you print your labels through eBay.
If you did not do any of that then you are at risk of a late shipping defect.
When you set up your listing with accurate weights and dimensions of the package the item will ship in AND select the Calculated shipping setting then Buyers will pay you the right amount to ship.

Your sold item states $4 priority shipping. No item can ship for $4 using priority mail. I suspect you did not use ebay shipping to send your item, therefore no tracking number if you shipped at the post office. If you did get a tracking number, you can manually enter it when you go to the Sold transaction. If you do not have a tracking number, you can select Mark as shipped.

Thank you so much for your reply.
It is now marked shipped but I am not going to use the shipping label because I already mailed it weeks ago.
Does the buyer now have to go online and mark that they received it for me to get my payment released?
Because I don't think they are going to do that.
I think they just got their package and went on with their life.
How will Ebay know to pay me?

When you ship with tracking on the sold transaction then eBay knows when the Buyer receives their item. New or low activity Sellers can have their funds held for up to 30 days: Payments on hold | eBay
Buyers, their Feedback, etc are not part of payment holds.
Did you ship the item with tracking??? Did you have tracking on the sold transaction???
If YES to both of those questions then you will just have to wait to get paid by eBay.
On this page you will be able to see how much eBay will be paying you: Seller Hub | Your financial summary | eBay

The buyer doesn't mark the item as received. A tracking number is what proves delivery. If you shipped without tracking, you have no proof of delivery. If the buyer opens a case of item not received, you will be forced to refund without tracking as proof. Tracking is a SELLER protection...use it!

Hopefully it is not too late for that. In the future print your labels through eBay so you get a discount on the shipping (except for USPS Media Mail). Be accurate on your weight and box dimensions and use the Calculated setting so Buyers pay you the correct amount for the shipping costs.
