My eBay is linked to my PayPal but I keep getting notifications saying to update my account !

eBay no longer uses PayPal to pay sellers. You must link a checking account to receive your payment.

This change happened years ago.  If you haven't sold recently, many things have changed.  You need to update to Managed Payments as instructed above.  Your funds will also be subject to holds until you become established again.
