New to selling on eBay. I recently sold an item. It was heavy (47 lbs.). The package was shipped on February 17th. It's not March 6th, and the tracking info still says "In Transit to Next Facility". USPS has apparently lost this package. The buyer has formally requested a refund. I'm not going to eat the cost of USPS' error. I'm attempting to contact eBay, but my phone isn't ringing when they call, for some reason. How do I proceed?

First thing to do is to go to the USPS website and ask customer service to check on the package. This usually gets things moving again in a few days. Tell your buyer you are doing this and ask for a little more time before they "Ask eBay to step in". The problem is that once eBay makes the refund there is no way to reverse the refund if the package gets delivered. Also, once the refund is made the buyer no longer has any obligation to return the item or the refund if they do receive the item.
You do not say what kind of phone you are using but some phones will block calls from eBay without your knowledge.
