I am new to selling on eBay. I am selling my excessive amount of scrapbooking supplies that I have purchased and accumulated over the last 20 years. I do not have a "company" as I am just a user and I initially bought, but now also sell.
Today I got a message in my eBay message inbox, from a unidentifiable user name, claiming to represent VantageBP, LLC. They embedded a jpeg letter regarding product verification for one of the brands that I listed - Prima Marketing. It's asking me to provide within 3 days - documentation and info to establish -
* Identification of the source of my goods - * Invoices supporting quantity of inventory - * Company contact and business information.
Like I said above, items that I am selling is from an accumulation of 20+ years. I no longer have actual receipts, however, I did list them many as "new" and not used due to the package never being opened.
This has me very worried. I checked on the VeRO list and couldn't find Prima Marketing or VantageBP, LLC. The letter looks official but wouldn't I receive an official message from somebody with VantageBP, LLC, or from ebay directly, instead of a user name that just joined in August 2021.
This is a hobby for me and I have been enjoying it. I'm only looking to downsize my extras, but certainly don't want to be sued over it. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you!

Vantage BP is a company that pursues unauthorized resellers. Some companies do not want their products sold on eBay and other marketplaces, and hire companies like Vantage to look for their items.
You could contact customer service and ask if Vantage has the right to ask you through eBay messages for such proof. As you said, Prime could join VeRO and ask for your items to be removed.
Or you could respond to the message explaining that you did not purchase for resale, that you are selling your own unused supplies, to see how they respond.
To ask customer service, I would post a private message on social media - the reps there are tops.
