Member Vs. Community Member

So I have been a member on Ebay since Dec 30, 2001. Tonight, I happened to stumble upon this forum on an unrelated matter. I noticed I had 6 badges (all anniversaries). I see in my profile that says I've been a

Community Member since  7-16-2008. It's not a big deal tho. I'm just curious why I have 2 different dates. Until tonight, I've never contributed to the forum in any way. Maybe someone can shed some light on this. Thank you in advance.

2001 is when you registered your eBay account and 2008 is when you logged in here for the first time.  Perhaps to read up on something.

I have a 2007 eBay account start date and a 2015 Community start date ... we were Buyers long before we Sold anything but once we started to sell we came here to ask questions and read ...
