Media mail?

Hi,

I’ve been using eBay primarily for purchasing since about 2001.
Today was a first for me. I purchased a sweater that said the shipping fee was $16.55 which sounded like a lot but since I was getting the sweater pretty inexpensively, I decided to go ahead.

The item arrives today with shipping due! They said it didn’t have enough postage on it. I told them to return it and I messaged the seller. The seller said I selected media mail which is for books rather than priority or first class. Um, no, I didn’t select shipping at all; shipping was listed as $16.55. There were no options and since the listing wasn’t for books as it is, I would think that option wouldn’t be there. I’ve also never heard of media mail. I ship items via a couple of websites myself, including eBay occasionally. I’ve never been offered as a seller to send via media mail.
Is this person running a scam? If so, how can I report this to eBay?

1. Select The seller has violated one of eBay’s policies and click Continue.
2. On the next page, enter the seller's ID and select Other.
3. In the comment section, describe what happened.

Media mail?

If there is postage due,  I'd go to your PO and show them the seller shipped a sweater by Media Mail and they can get the postage from the seller or refuse it.

Postage due is one reason you can refuse a package and still be covered by the MBG.

When the package is returned, the seller will have to pay the postage due to get the package back.

Have a great day.

Media mail?

You need to open a not received claim to get your money back.  Postage due is the one reason you can refuse delivery and still be covered by eBay.

Go to your purchase history - select 'I haven't received it' and follow the prompts.

The seller has 3 business days to provide tracking that shows delivery, or a refund.  If he doesn't, go to your case and click 'ask us to step in'.

After you open the not received claim, contact customer service and explain that you refused delivery for postage due.  You can also report him for the policy violation at the same time.

To speak to customer service, use the link on the left side of this page “have us call you” - https://www.ebay.com/help/contact_us?id=4002&st=10

If you don't see 'have us call you' right under the chat link, click chat.  Then at the bottom of the chat topics, click more, then click contact an agent.
