Local pickup

I purchased an item I can pick up,  but the seller charged me shipping and doesn't know how to handle the transaction.  I told them to refund the shipping via PayPal and go back to the board and ask for the QR code. But that was a guess.  How does that work?

Re: Local pickup

@dust19

When purchasing, the buyer would have to choose local pickup when checking out.
Now the buyer will have to go to the seller and ask them to cancel the transaction, refund and relist with local pickup only, no shipping.
The buyer will then repurchase the item and a new code will be generated.

As to the part about going through PayPal for a partial refund, that is not a good idea, at all.

What should happen is, the seller would go to the payment section and issue a partial refund. There is no reason to go through PayPal to credit the overcharge shipping. I would be leery of anyone who would suggest it.

Re: Local pickup

I have had sellers credit the postage in the past, but they just knew how to do that.  This seller asked me to figure it out and I have never done it from the buying side.  I find it appalling, with all the fees ebay charges everyone, they do not find it prudent to provide legitimate customer service.  This issue is mentioned NOWHERE in their help section.  I am going to request the seller pay me back the shipping in cash when I pick up the item, I will give him positive feedback, and let ebay figure the rest out.  But thank you for your information.
