Listing and shipping cost using an invoice

Good day all.

The listings I have put together for my previous sales have been Fixed Price, with a Buy It Now price entered in.

I have the "Require Immediate Payment" box checked.

For shipping I have been using "Flat-Same Cost To All Buyers" and select a shipping method (Media Mail, First Class Package, whatever) with a ballpark ship price, so the buyer just pays all the indicated costs and away we go.

I would like to list an item using the "Calculated-Cost Varies By Shipping Location" and send an invoice for the total cost plus shipping after the sale.

I have some questions about composing the listing.

I still want to use a Fixed Price with a Buy It Now price entered in.

I believe I need to leave the Require Immediate Payment un-checked.

The shipping method will be selected (Priority Regional Box A) and shipping cost set to "Calculated".

Is this all I do to post the listing?

I think ebay shows an estimated shipping cost to the buyer. I use ebay mailing labels and get the USPS discount, which I think will be less than the price displayed to the buyer in the listing.

How do I pass the actual shipping cost to the buyer? That is done on the invoice I send him, correct?

Once I get a notice that the item has sold, then I generate the invoice and send to the buyer, correct?

Long email, just trying to do it right, thanks for your time

eBay shows the buyer the shipping price they will pay - it is not an estimate.  You can not charge them more than the amount they are shown.  You can always refund a portion, but just like with your flat rate shipping, the buyer pays what eBay shows them and you should be done.

If you want to share the commercial discount with your buyers, go here - https://www.ebay.com/ship/prf/carrier  and check offer eBay rates and check usps and save.

With all buy it now items, the item is not sold until it is paid for, with the exception of combined shipping - if you turn that on and the buyer puts multiple items in their cart, they can commit to the purchase without paying by requesting a combined total. Otherwise, there is no invoicing for buy it now items.

Best offer is another exception, but it doesn't look like you use best offer.
