Just found out something I think ebay should know

So over the last year, I've noticed a random, small population of customers that were reporting smells of smoke when they weren't there at the time of shipping, and I am psych major so I know about phantosmia but it's not common - until Covid19 - now many people are reporting it and the smell of cigarette smoke is a common one and it can happen at random or be persistent - it can happen also with detergents/cosmetics that are new, etc. So it could also be the combo but I think it's important for the eBay community to know, right?

Probably not.

People have been complaining here on the boards about the smell of cigarettes, perfumes, fabric softeners, etc. on their purchases even since I started on eBay in 2004, though the number of complaints seem to be much fewer than they used to be.

eBay says smells/oders aren't covered unless it's  something like perfume that doesn't  smell like it's supposed to smell.

Smells are so subjective too.  I once sold a doll that was musty smelling.  I added that to the listing.  When the buyer received it, she said it was barely noticeable and she was thrilled.  To me it was overpowering, but then I am very sensitive to all smells.
