Item never arrived, eBay is totally automated to properly help

This has been going on since Dec. 2 when I first ordered item.  I never received item. Seller is now in hospital, daughter wrote and said if I close the request/claim she will reimburse me. But by doing so I cannot reopen case if she doesn't refund me (she's taking her mother's part due to mother's illness.) I'm not sure what, if anything, to do next since eBay is totally automated. If I close case, I can not reopen if there's no payment. eBay has changed the date twice to when they will step in if requested. Needless to say, this is very frustrating. And a non-trust for eBay is growing. I have better things to do on Dec. 24, when eBay now suggests I take new action. This is causing a lot of waisted time during a very, very busy season.

DO NOT CLOSE the case.  You can be refunded without having the case closed.  If you have filed an Item Not Received case, the seller (daughter) can issue the refund at any time.  Depending on when the seller went into the hospital, the daughter may know that the item was never shipped, so she can refund immediately.

Tell the daughter that there is no penalty to her mother by your keeping the case open.  As long as she refunds you before you bring eBay into the case ... all will be well.

 

Just make sure YOU ask eBay to step in before 20 days have passed since you filed the dispute ... if you haven't received a refund by then.
